Warning

for teachers,

It is very popular to use this blog as a teaching tool, to demonstrate fake websites. From a point of view this may seem reasonable, as the website represents an unrecognized and possibly imaginary nation. However, there are nuances here that I ask you to consider before using this site for this purpose, nuances that students may not grasp. It doesn't matter if you think of Jailavera as a nation, it's actually a physical place, our home in the Bouches-du-Rhône. We have real land, real time, real flowers and trees, real animals and real humans living here. You can visit us, as much as you can visit someone's house, if you are invited. I mention these points because students may not always see good accolades when they see a website that they have been told is wrong. For example, if a student is challenged by their teacher to see if a travel agent could book a Jailavera flight. This could be used to prove that Jailavera is not a real place. Obviously, this is not a disqualifier, as the Jaïlavera has a physical location. Just because we don't have an airport doesn't disqualify us as a real location - you can't land a plane in your grandmother's house either, but you can travel there, n 'is this not? There are several other examples of this kind of distinction, which do not make it possible to understand that it is a real place, even if it is not a "real" country.

I would say that instead of using Jailavera as an example of a 'bogus' website, instead use it as an example of what defines a real country. Jaïlavera's blog can be used to discuss topics such as declarative state theory, constitutional state, diplomacy and diplomatic recognition, sovereignty of dependent nations (such as Indian reservations), enclaves and enclaves and sovereignty in general.

Either way, be careful to use the Jailavera blog as an educational tool. This is our home and it is a real place, and a lot on the site reflects very real things in Jailavera. Just because it's shown on a website that looks fake, it doesn't make our snow any less cold.

And if you encourage your students to use the Jailavera website as an example of a bogus website, ask them to be kind about it.

Thank you.

Presiden of Republic of Jailavera
